The Beagle was kind to Lone Star aswe left Ushuaia. For our initial jump of 30 miles, the typical westerly breeze laid down andthe channel lay flat as glass. Along the way we spotted our first penguins bringing much excitement to certain educated members of the crew. Arriving in Puerto Williams, we made our way into a small inlet where many sailboats were “rafted up” for the night adjacent to the locally renowned Micalvi Yacht Club. Rafting is the process of positioning boats parallel to each other and then lashing them together like you would logs in a raft.

One of the great things for senior crew to do is launch spin. Atthe Avow Regatta J30 Vee Jay had four opportunities to do this andthe crew did a fine job. This launch in the third race just a sample of how Vee Jay used nine crew to make this work … Spin B had four other boats in this division with 13 boats during the start.
